Cancellations & refunds, in plain terms.

When you're charged, what happens when you cancel, and how refunds work when they apply.

Summary

The short version

Baslic is software for businesses. You can cancel anytime and keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for. Subscription fees are non-refundable, except where mandatory law requires it or we agree otherwise in writing. This page explains how that works in practice; where it overlaps with our Terms of Service, the Terms govern.

Scope

Baslic is a business-to-business service provided by Fidanet Solution Oy to businesses (Y-tunnus holders and equivalent). This policy supplements our Terms of Service. Statutory consumer rights — such as the EU 14-day cooling-off period — apply to consumers, not to business customers, so the terms on this page are our own commitments.

Free plan and 14-day trial

The Free plan needs only an email and is never charged. Paid plans include a 14-day free trial. If you add a payment method during the trial, we charge you only after the trial ends — and only if you haven't cancelled. Cancel during the trial and you are never charged, so there is nothing to refund.

Subscription fees

Subscriptions renew automatically at the start of each monthly or annual period until you cancel. Subscription fees are non-refundable, except where required by mandatory consumer-protection law in your jurisdiction, or where we explicitly agree in writing. This mirrors our Terms of Service.

Cancelling your plan

You can cancel at any time from your billing settings. Cancellation stops the next renewal: your subscription stays active until the end of the current billing period, and you keep full access until then. We do not pro-rate or refund the remaining days of a period you have already paid for — this applies to both monthly and annual plans.

Plan changes and downgrades

Changing plans is different from cancelling. When you upgrade mid-period, we charge the prorated difference for the remaining days. When you downgrade, Stripe credits the unused portion of your current plan toward the new one. This proration is a plan-change adjustment, not a cancellation refund — cancelling a plan does not refund the current period.

Refunds and VAT

Where a refund is issued — because the law requires it, or we have agreed to it in writing — we process it as a credit note against the original invoice. The credit note reverses the VAT on that invoice, so your VAT records stay correct. Prices are shown excluding VAT; we add Finnish VAT where required and apply the EU reverse-charge mechanism for VAT-registered businesses in other EU member states.

Credit notes, not cash

A refund is returned to your original payment method through Stripe and documented by a credit note for your bookkeeping. We do not issue cash or off-platform refunds.

Exceptional cases

Some specific rights override the general rule above and take precedence where they apply. For example, our Data Processing Agreement lets you terminate an affected service with a pro-rata refund of any prepaid period if you object, on legitimate grounds, to a new sub-processor. Mandatory statutory rights always apply where the law grants them.

How to cancel

Cancelling takes about a minute:

  • Open Billing in your Baslic dashboard settings.
  • Select Manage subscription to open the Stripe billing portal.
  • Choose Cancel plan — you keep access until the end of the current period.
  • You'll receive an email confirmation from Stripe.
