Run your Estonian OÜ
without reading Estonian tax law.

Photograph a receipt. Baslic applies the käibemaksuseadus paragraph by paragraph, flags the expenses that create income tax in the same month, and turns KMD day into a download.

EUR native. English first. Your accountant gets a seat at no cost.

Three receipts, three different answers

  • Client dinner, 96.00 EURInput VAT 0%

    KMS § 29 (8). Plus 22/78 income tax.

  • Hotel on a business trip, 142.00 EURInput VAT 100%

    KMS § 29 (8), the accommodation exception

  • Fuel, company car, 68.00 EURInput VAT 50%

    KMS § 30, passenger car

Every verdict carries its paragraph. Nothing is guessed, and nothing hides behind a category name.

Estonia is not just another VAT country

The rules that catch newcomers out.

Every expense, decided

Entertainment 0%, passenger cars 50%, business-trip accommodation 100%. The AI reads the receipt, the rule set decides the deduction, and the paragraph sits next to the number.

The tax nobody warned you about

In Estonia an expense outside the business is taxed the same month: 22/78 corporate income tax on the TSD. Baslic flags it on the receipt, while it is still a decision and not a surprise.

KMD day is a download

A return computed row by row with the arithmetic visible, an INF annex at invoice level, and a file that pre-fills the form in e-MTA. You review it, you confirm it.

Input VAT, paragraph by paragraph

Every euro decided by the Act

This is the Estonian rule set Baslic ships. It is deterministic: the same receipt always gets the same verdict, and the verdict always shows where it comes from.

ExpenseInput VATLegal basis

The rows that name TuMS do more than block the deduction. They create income tax at 22/78 in the month you spend, and Baslic tells you before the month closes.

Rule set version August 2026. The standard rate has been 24% since 1 July 2025, accommodation is 13%, and books, press and medicines 9%. Older rates stay valid for older dates.

KMD and KMD INF

The 20th, without the dread

Baslic builds the monthly return the way e-MTA reads it: taxable value per rate on the rate rows, output VAT derived from those bases, input VAT split into the ordinary, import and passenger-car rows. Where a figure cannot be derived from your material, Baslic asks for it by name instead of inventing it.

The INF annex is built at invoice level. Sales in part A, purchases in part B, partners identified by registrikood, and the 1,000 euro per-partner threshold applied. If a partner above the threshold has no registry code on file, Baslic names the gap instead of sending an empty field.

Baslic does not file in your name

The download pre-fills the form in e-MTA. You open it, compare it with the figures on screen and confirm it yourself. That is deliberate: the declaration is yours, and so is the last look at it.

How it works

Three steps, once a month

  1. 1

    Photograph or forward

Snap the receipt, or forward the invoice to your workspace email address. Bank statements come in as CSV or camt.053.

  2. 2

    The rules decide

The AI reads amounts, dates, VAT rates and the counterparty. The Estonian rule set decides the deduction. Anything it cannot settle goes to review instead of quietly into the return.

  3. 3

    Close the month

Check the period summary, open KMD, download the file and confirm it in e-MTA.

For your accountant

A free seat, with everything switched on

Estonian bookkeeping stays a job for two: you collect, your accountant checks and files. So the accountant seat costs nothing and is missing nothing. Invitations work in both directions, and your accountant reads the same receipts you do, in their own language.

Questions

Straight answers

Baslic is bookkeeping software, not a tax adviser. Figures are computed from the material you upload, and every verdict shows its legal basis so you or your accountant can check it. The filing decisions stay yours.

Does Baslic file my KMD for me?+

No, and it will not pretend to. Baslic produces the return and a file you upload in e-MTA under Add data from file. The upload pre-fills the form, you confirm it. The first time, compare the pre-filled form with the figures on screen before you confirm.

Do you support KMD INF?+

Yes. Parts A and B are built at invoice level, partners are identified by registrikood, and the 1,000 euro per-partner threshold is applied as e-MTA defines it.

What about the annual report?+

Out of scope, on purpose. The annual report is your accountant's work. Baslic hands them a clean ledger with a legal basis on every line, plus exports to work from.

Is there an Estonian interface?+

Not yet. The app is in English, Finnish, Swedish, Danish and Turkish, and Estonian is on the roadmap. Terms such as KMD, KMD INF, TSD and registrikood stay in Estonian everywhere, so nothing is lost between the app and e-MTA.

Can Baslic send e-invoices?+

Not yet. Today Baslic reads purchase invoices and issues sales invoices as PDF. Estonian e-arve sending is being built, and this page will say so when it ships, not before.

Do I have to be an e-resident?+

No. Baslic works for any Estonian OÜ. e-Residents simply tend to hit the language wall first.

Your OÜ, in a language you actually read.
